The Club Foundation Scholarships

​The Joseph K. Garves Mid-Manager Scholarship


The Joseph K. Garves Mid-Manager Scholarship is designed to support mid-level club managers in their pursuit of professional excellence, offering access to premier educational and networking opportunities at both the Chapter and Region levels, with select National-level programs available.

Scholarship Awards: Fostering Excellence
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on a rigorous evaluation of merit, recommendations from General Managers, and the availability of funds.
  • Each scholarship, valued at $1,000, is dedicated to covering registration costs and related expenses for education and networking events. Approved programs include:
    • Ohio Valley Chapter Quarterly Meetings
    • National Manager-in-Development Program
    • CMAA National Mid-Management Conference
    • Other OVC Board Approved Expenses​​

Applicant Criteria: Charting Your Professional Growth
We invite mid-level Ohio Valley Chapter members, committed to advancing their careers in the club industry, to apply. Eligible candidates must be Professional members of CMAA actively pursuing the CCM designation.

Application Requirements: Paving Your Path to Success
To be considered for this prestigious scholarship, adhere to the following steps:
  1. Complete the application. 
  2. Write a statement (300 words or less): describing why CMAA and the Ohio Valley Chapter are important
    to you and your career objectives/goals; and identifying which of the aforementioned approved
    program(s) you wish to apply the scholarship funds to and why.
  3. Have your General Manager complete the questions and recommendation section in its entirety.
  4. Submit the application to the Ohio Valley Chapter by February 28, 2026 electronically to the Managing
    Director
    .

Application Considerations: Maximizing the Opportunity
  • The scholarship pertains only to programs or courses not previously undertaken.
  • Ensure utilization of the scholarship by December 31, 2027.
